Band Bio

The Surge are a band hailing from across the Hampshire/Dorset border. Their sound could be described as a hybrid of Joan Jett and Garbage and with influences of post-punk, indie and old school punk this is a hybrid that brings them to the fore. Tracks from The Surge centre around song-based tunes and the powerful vocal delivery and energetic riffs provide a setting perfect for live shows.

The band have had recent support bookings for new wave legends, The Vapors; punk originators The Members; Brazilian punk antagonists, Porno Massacre and Germany's answer to classic era Pogues, Mr Irish Bastard. The Surge have also been nominated in the Best breakthrough artist OMA category for the 2024 Original music Awards.

The Surge single 'In Love With Yourself' passed 14,000 only months into its release, and their debut album 'Amped', released at the end of July 2023 engaged with 25,000 streams collectively. With a variety of live shows already booked The Surge are increasing their live following. ‘Pretty Smile’ featured on BBC Solent Introducing with Fern Buckley in August 2023 which also features on their debut album ‘Amped’.

The Surge are continuing to write and record as they go, collaborating on the adaptation of music written with a natural variation on how the songs are formed. Sometimes they have a story, sometimes they are inspired by conversations in the practise room, sometimes they have an underlying political message, and sometimes they are just ‘because’.

The Surge show no signs of stopping on this upward curve, and with their punky guitars, driven lead guitar lines, riff filled bass lines, unassuming drums, and commanding hook driven vocals, they are all set to bring a dynamic showcase to any venue.
